Unison Rights manages copyright for publishers and catalogue-holding rights holders, but had no offering for the independent creator, who typically distributes recordings with one provider and registers compositions somewhere else — or doesn’t register them at all. The company wanted a product of its own, with an independent brand and subscription, that would let that creator sign up on their own, distribute their music and get paid for both the recording and the composition, without altering how its main platform operates.

What we did
Nakima designed and built SOLO from 2022: web, mobile app, backoffice and corporate website. The platform covers user sign-up with subscription and electronic contract signing, release management, distribution to digital stores through Revelator, a usage-and-earnings panel, and settlements. Compositions are passed on to Unison’s platform for its team to manage with the processes it already uses. After going live in production in April 2025, Nakima maintains the platform and has proposed its evolution towards accounts with multiple catalogues and users.

The result
Unison has its own product in production for the independent segment, channelling publishing towards its existing collection network without building its own distributor, and whose architecture has served as a reference for modernising its main platform.
